Leadership

MARK STRAUSS
“We have terrific talent and drive on our staff. We tend to have people who stay here and thrive.”
MARK STRAUSS, President and Publisher

NOW

I’ve been with Interior Design since 1994. In addition to the magazine, I’ve spearheaded a number of brand extensions, including the development of our website, interiordesign.net, as well as book publishing and events divisions. Community involvement is also an important aspect of my job, and I sit on the board of the Council of Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA), and participate in many other industry groups, including the International Interior Design Association (IIDA).

THEN

I began my career in advertising sales in 1976, then went on to become the national sales manager of the largest B2B magazine of its time.

CINDY ALLEN
“If you’re really in tune with your reader, the possibilities are endless.”
CINDY ALLEN, Editor-in-Chief

NOW

I’ve been the Editor since 2001. As a design junkie, I bring unbridled passion to the pages of Interior Design. My goal is to feature the best work, and to create a home for designers and support the industry. In addition to overseeing editorial, I’m very involved in the community, participating in a variety of panels, juries, roundtables, speaking engagements and industry events around the world. I also serve as the Chairman of DIFFA (Design Industries Foundation Fighting Against AIDS) and am actively involved in The Design Trust for Public Space.

THEN

In 1996, I was brought in as Marketing Director of Interior Design, which I did for five years before transitioning to Editor-in-Chief.
