Material ConneXion and Interior Design Magazine Announce “Best of Year” and “Best of Materials”

New York, NY – July 30, 2014 – Material ConneXion (MCX), the world’s largest library of innovative, advanced and sustainable materials, today announced an exclusive collaboration with Interior Design magazine to introduce the newest category in its Best of Year Awards (BOY). The annual celebration honors the year’s top international design products and projects across market segments and, for the first time, will include an award for “Best of Materials.” With the addition of “Best of Materials,” BOY 2014 will honor winners across more than 100 categories.

“Best of Year is one of the most prestigious honors that a product or project can receive in the design industry,” said Michele Caniato, president of Material ConneXion. “I am thrilled to break new ground in recognizing the incredible work by the world’s most innovative manufacturers. Breakthrough materials change the products and projects we see everyday, ultimately transforming the way we live our lives. It is my privilege to highlight these trailblazers, along with our sister brand Interior Design, through the new Best of Materials award category.”

International manufacturers of innovative, advanced and sustainable materials are invited to submit their products for one or more of the 20 material categories featured on the Best of Year website by September 14, 2014. Submission includes a nominal fee of $300.00 USD per category.

Award winners and honorees will have their work showcased via Interior Design’s magazine and website, MATTER magazine and Material ConneXion’s online platforms. All winners and honorees will be announced at the annual awards ceremony to be held at New York’s IAC building on December 4, 2014.

In 2013, Interior Design received product submissions from 23 countries and project submissions from 33. In addition to these submissions, the online voting page received an impressive 290K+ page views and nearly 62K votes.
