NYCxDESIGN Awards Winners Announced

NEW YORK, May 22, 2017 – Interior Design Magazine and ICFF are thrilled to announce the winners of the second annual NYCxDESIGN Awards. The program celebrates outstanding talent across major areas of design such as architecture, interiors, furnishings, lighting, and technology, and unifies the more than 500 events that occur during NYCxDESIGN, New York City’s showcase of global design.

“We launched the NYCxDESIGN Awards to celebrate our beloved city and showcase New York City as the center of design. In our sophomore year, over 700 entries came from 109 design firms and 210 manufacturers with 60 international companies showing product at NYCxDESIGN – a perfect combination of global design in our beloved hometown,” said Interior Design Editor in Chief, Cindy Allen.

“Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating the best of global design at The 2nd annual NYCxDESIGN Awards and ICFF Opening Night Party,” said Kevin O’Keefe, ICFF Show Director. “ICFF is honored to take part in recognizing such incredibly talented designers and brands. Congratulations to this year’s award winners.”

Interior Design and ICFF created The NYCxDESIGN Awards to honor the outstanding products exhibited throughout NYCxDESIGN and to highlight the New York-based projects completed throughout the year. The submissions were reviewed by a panel of 30 design luminaries. Winner and Honorees were recognized live in a ceremony at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) on May 20th. In addition, those recognized will be published in Interior Design, and promoted on the publication’s digital channels. For the second year, Lladró created a custom version of their unique piece, The Guest, as the 2017 winner award.

The full list of winners can be found on Interior Design. New this year is the NYCxDESIGN Awards student category, sponsored by NYCxDESIGN. In its inaugural year, the category received over 100 student product submissions. Ten finalists were honored at the ceremony.

“NYCxDESIGN is incredibly pleased at the growth and participation in the NYCxDESIGN Awards this year. In two short years, Interior Design and ICFF have created a major design awards event that draws entries from designers around the world for their incredible work seen in New York City. We could not think of better partners to highlight the best of NYCxDESIGN,” said Edward A. Hogikyan, Senior Vice President, Marketing, New York City Economic Development Corporation.

NYCxDESIGN is a citywide celebration of design that takes place each May. Hosted in New York City, and overseen by New York City Economic Development Corporation, NYCxDESIGN brings together all the disciplines of design, commerce, culture, education, and entertainment with a full, varied program, including exhibitions, installations, trade shows, talks, launches and open studios.
