More powerful than a president, more influential than a mayor, it’s… Preet Bharara.
Worth magazine put the crusading United States attorney at the pinnacle of its “100 Most Powerful People in Finance” list, two slots ahead of even President Obama.
Bharara outranked Xi Jinping, president of China (#4), German Chancellor Angela Merkel (#5), and Britain’s David Cameron (#7).
He also easily outstripped Attorney General Eric Holder (#8) and Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts (#10).
“The most powerful person in finance should be a leader, an innovator, a visionary and a disruptor,” said Worth Editor-In-Chief Richard Bradley in a Monday release.
“We found that, in the world of finance, the person who best fit those descriptions wasn’t a banker or hedge fund manager, but a prosecutor.”
